By the end of the course, delegates will be able to
- Define ‘evidence-based medicine’ and discuss the importance of critical appraisal skills
- Identify different study designs and demonstrate an awareness of the hierarchy of research evidence
- Evaluate the methodology of any study for strengths and weaknesses
- Explain how to choose a statistical test for data analysis and be able to interpret the results in any research paper
- Calculate clinically useful statistics from results data
- Decide whether to change clinical practice based on results
