If you experience any problems accessing your online account or viewing the critical course material, you may contact our technical support department using the help desk. Before doing so, please go through the following checklist which highlights the most common problems.
1. Make sure that your internet connection is working by viewing other websites.
2. Check to see if your computer set-up allows you to view the online material:
- Pop-up blocking software in your internet browser or add-ons (such as Google Toolbar, Zone Alarm, Yahoo! Toolbar, MSN Toolbar, AOL, Norton Internet Security) should allow www.criticalappraisal.com to launch new windows.
- Internet Explorer 7: Tools > Pop-up Blocker or Tools > Internet Options > Privacy
- Firefox 2: Tools > Options > Content
- Safari: Command+k toggles the pop-up blocker on or off
- Your firewall should allow you to access www.criticalappraisal.com and view Flash material.
- Javascript should be enabled on your internet browser.
- Internet Explorer 7: Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom level > Scripting - enable Active scripting
- Firefox 2: Tools > Options > Content
- Cookies should be enabled on your internet browser.
- Internet Explorer 7: Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Move the slider to any of the following privacy settings: Medium high, Medium, Low, Accept all cookies.
- Firefox 2: Tools > Options > Privacy

3. Check the server status page for any scheduled maintenance time. As long as one server is operational you should have no problems viewing the online material.
