Why is Critical Appraisal important?
The pressure on healthcare services has never been greater. Many clinicians face the challenge of treating increasing numbers of patients more rapidly with a wider choice of interventions and are tasked to make the correct choices to improve clinical outcomes. Deciding on the strength of evidence for these treatments is critical and with the wealth of data that gets published it can often be challenging to interpret all aspects of the studies with confidence.
Critical appraisal skills are now as much a part of the clinician’s armoury as the ability to diagnose conditions and prescribe treatments. Critical appraisal skills allow clinicians to prioritise evidence that can improve outcomes. Such is the importance of acquiring these skills that critical appraisal is now routinely tested in medical, dental and nursing exams. By learning about the core critical appraisal skills we hope you will be able to apply evidence to your practice that will make a real positive difference to your patients.
CPD accreditation
The Critical Appraisal Online Course, Critical Appraisal Masterclass, Critical Appraisal Workshop and Webinars are approved for continuing professional development (CPD) by The CPD Standards Office. This independent accreditation demonstrates that the learning activities offered by The Critical Appraisal Company conform to CPD best practice and are appropriate for inclusion in a formal CPD record.
Continuing professional development (CPD) is expected of most healthcare professionals. Guidelines for CPD have been issued by regulators.
