Critical Appraisal Across Dental Specialties

As ISFE examination formats evolve, critical appraisal remains an essential skill for specialist practice, research and evidence-based patient care.

We delivered bespoke training using publications across dental public health, orthodontics, oral medicine and oral surgery. Participants evaluated study design, bias, outcome measurement and statistical findings, developing balanced judgements about the reliability and clinical relevance of the evidence.

Teaching emphasised the enduring value of these skills: questioning research claims, interpreting uncertainty and applying evidence to clinical decisions.
