Updating critical appraisal skills in Bangkok

The capital city of Thailand was the location today for a critical appraisal skills update session we ran for a major pharmaceutical company.

An overview of the steps involved in appraising research papers was followed by an interactive session discussing the strengths and weaknesses of randomised controlled trials and observational trials using a question-and-answer format.

Observational interventional trials are prone to a wide range of weaknesses compared to gold standard randomised controlled trials but they provide real world data on the comparative effectiveness of different interventions and can add to the evidence base.

There was just enough time to sample the culinary delights of Bangkok before heading home to England!
