Developing and Appraising Research Protocols – European Medical Affairs Teams

We delivered bespoke training for European medical affairs teams, including MSLs, medical advisors and medical leads, in developing and critically appraising research protocols.

Using non-interventional RWE studies and rare disease examples, participants translated evidence gaps into focused research questions and evaluated study designs, data sources and endpoints. Discussion addressed confounding, selection bias, missing data and the alignment of sample size assumptions with planned analyses.

The emphasis was on identifying weaknesses before recruitment and developing feasible, scientifically defensible protocols capable of answering clinically meaningful questions.
